Wrecked Exotics in Jakarta

During the last few days, many roads inside and around the city were flooded stranding hundreds if not thousands of motorists.

In one incident, a Rolls-Royce Ghost saloon, said to cost around 10 Billion IDR or over 1 Million USD in Indonesia, was photographed outside the Bundaran Hotel partially submerged.

Speed Enforcement

Now we don’t need to imagine how the Jakarta Police Force would look if it had a fleet of Lamborghini Aventadors protecting the roads. The Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. donated a police version of its super sports car, dubbed the Gallardo LP570-4 Police. That is where designers got the idea of undertaking such a project.

Their renderings show that the Aventador Polizia has a Red and White paint scheme. It’s designed to have a defibrillator and a refrigerated container that’s used for quick organ transport. All the LED lights on the car are placed in the air intakes and on the dashboard. Clearly, the designers thought that the Aventador's aerodynamic lines would be ruined if it had a big light-pod on the roof.

Actually, the police beacon on the roof of the Gallardo has been aerodynamically optimized. To make sure that the visual signal won’t be missed, blue LEDs are fitted round the base of this very flat signal lighting. Blue LED signals are located on the front, sides and rear of the light’s aluminum shell in support of the roof-mounted lighting. The audible warning signals come from four sirens placed on the front and rear of the Gallardo. The Aventador is powered by a 6.5l V12 engine that can deliver 700hp and 690 Nm of torque. It is mated to a Graziano ISR 7-speed automatic transmission. Going from a standstill to 60mph is achieved in 2.9 seconds and it has a maximum speed of 217 mph (350 km/h). In comparison, the Gallardo LP570-4 S-Trofeo Stradale Police features a 570hp engine that could go as fast as 203 mph (327 km/h).

Concept art from Jurassic Park 4

I’m not exactly sure why we need a fourth Jurassic Park film, but Universal has been trying to get one for years. At one point, John Sayles (Lone Star) wrote a script that took an Island of Doctor Moreau bent, and created genetically engineered human-dinosaurs mercenaries that could wield guns. What’s more dangerous than a velociraptor? A velociraptor with an AK-47 (clever girl). The project was eventually scrapped due in part to concept art by Carlos Huante that has now been leaked online.

Some of it just looks like The Lizard from The Amazing Spider-Man, but there are some seeds of a cool idea, like the triceratops, since he’s the only one with opposable thumbs. I don’t know if this would be a good fit for the Jurassic Park franchise, but I can absolutely see it working for a SyFy movie. They should hire Lorenzo Lamas, shoot it this weekend, and release it next week. I’d watch.
