the 33-year-old graphic designer only had to stake his place outside Apple's shop in Sydney 20 hours before it opened.Time differences mean the Australian market was first to pick up the new phone, which was launched around the UK at 8am.
Jimmy, who bought one phone for himself and another as a present for his mother in Indonesia, said: "Last year, I got here around the same time and there was already a queue of about 20 people."
Within minutes of picking up the phones, Jimmy was being swamped by congratulations from technology fans around the world on social networking site Twitter.
"Thanks all for support!" he tweeted.
